How to Safely Detach a Steering Wheel on 2008 Dodge Nitro?

Before removing the steering wheel, you must disable and take out the air bag on the driver's side using the correct air bag service and repair steps. Then, move the steering wheel bolt out slightly, but leave its threaded end in the column. After that, fit a special tool called L-4407A puller, equipped with OTC 7929A jaws or similar, into the pockets of the steering wheel armature, push on the bolt from the top and secure your grip. After that, take out the steering wheel.
