2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Replace an Air Bag on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should first unplug the SRS by isolating the negative battery cable and putting it aside for two minutes before removing and replacing the side curtain air bag. To keep yourself from injury, work on the air bag in gloves, goggles and a long-sleeved dress or shirt. Take care that nothing from the outside finds its way into the side curtain air bag or is sandwiched between the air bag cushion and headliner. The first step should be to get rid of the headliner. Remove the screw and free the two retainers that fix the side curtain air bag rear tether to the inner C-pillar for mega cab vehicles. Following this, remove the screw at the A-pillar base that keeps the side curtain air bag front tether retainer in place and tug on the A-pillar plastic retainers to take them off. Unplug the side curtain air bag harness connector from the inflator's receptacle where it connects. One by one, remove the screws that fix the side curtain air bag inflator and manifold tube brackets to the spring nuts in the rail at the top of the car. After that, pull out the planned number of plastic fasteners connecting the side curtain air bag to the roof and unfasten the side curtain air bag from the car.
