First, interrupt the help system by detaching and unplugging the car battery's negative cable, then wait two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. Be sure to use rubber gloves, eye protection and a long-sleeved shirt while dealing with an air bag since the air bag and the area surrounding it can be irritating. Should an air bag not deploy even if it has no damage, note that supplemental restraints that did not deploy are treated as described in the directions. Lift off the top cover above the instrument panel and the
Glove Box as your first step. To access the instrument panel wire harness, slide the red Connector Position Assurance lock and press the connector latch tab which is on the right part of the air bag support bracket connected to the air bag inflator pigtail. After that, remove the two screws holding the lower passenger air bag bracket to the air bag support bracket and use a small screwdriver to pop the retainer plate from the insulator holding the inflator pigtail wire connector. After that, insert a trim stick or another proper, wide flat-bladed tool and carefully separate the passenger air bag door from the instrument panel to separate your snap features, then remove the air bag and door as an assembled part.
