A: Before installing the oil pan, make sure to clean the gasket surfaces and examine the pan's gasket; if it looks bad, change it. Spread Mopar Engine RTV at a thickness of 1/8 in. onto both the front T-joints connecting the timing chain case cover to the cylinder block and also on the two joints where the rear main seal retainer meets the engine block. Similarly, put a little Mopar Engine RTV on the T-joints where they connect the rear main seal retainer with the engine block. Place the oil pan and gasket around the engine block, starting the bolt by hand. Slide the transmission to the oil pan bolts until it's finger tight and then fasten each bolt from 1 to 15 to 23 Nm (150 in. lbs.) and bolts 16 through 19 to 11 Nm (87 in. lbs.). Do not exceed 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) when installing the transmission to the oil pan bolts. After that, tighten down the A/C line and attach the flywheel inspection cover. Drop the vehicle to the floor of the jack stands and top up the oil so that it is at the correct level. Run the car briefly and inspect for any leaks under it.
