2008 Jeep Commander Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Harmonic Balancer on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: Before putting the harmonic balancer together, clean its bore and the nose of the crankshaft to avoid crankshaft, balancer or core damage. Align the slot of the balancer with the key in the crankshaft and move the balancer only slightly onto the shaft. For Assemble Balancer Installer 8512-A, thread the nut (2) onto the threaded rod (3) first, then add the roller bearing (1) with its hardened side toward the nut (4) and finally put the hardened washer (5) onto the threaded rod. Coat the rod's threads with Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or substitute. Press the balancer onto the crankshaft by using the Balancer Installer 8512-A and tighten the harmonic balancer bolt with a torque of 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Following that, fit the radiator fan and the accessory drive belt. After that, link the negative battery terminal to the negative terminal of the cable.
