2009 Jeep Commander Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Harmonic Balancer Installed on the Crankshaft on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Prior to installing the harmonic balancer, make sure both the harmonic balancer bore and crankshaft nose are very clean, so as not to harm the crankshaft, harmonic balancer or harmonic balancer installer 8512A. Attach the harmonic balancer to the crankshaft, then use the pressing cup and 8512A from the A/C hub installer 6871. Lubricate the threads of the harmonic balancer installer 8512A with Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or use an equivalent lubricant. Secure the harmonic balancer to the crankshaft by pressing it with the harmonic balancer installer and pressing cup. Afterward, place and tighten the harmonic balancer bolt by torque wrench until the reading is 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Following that, install the cooling fan and the accessory drive belt. To finish, link the red cable to the battery.
