How to service and repair a rear door striker on 2008 Jeep Commander?

The first step in repairing or servicing the rear door striker is to mark where the latch striker is located on the c-pillar with a grease pencil. After that, loosen and remove the two bolts connecting the striker to the c-pillar before getting hold of the striker and taking it out.
