Ensure nothing from the outside gets in or is caught between the driver air bag cushion and cover and never try to paint the cover since it could reduce deployment. "Secure the driver air bag as close to the steering wheel as you can, so you can access and check the electrical wires." Press the two Clock Spring driver air bag pigtail wire connectors straight in and then slide the locks to place them so each keyed and color-coded connector goes into its corresponding receptacle. Carefully put the driver's air bag in place, ensuring that you don't press the Clock Spring pigtail wires while doing so. Fix the driver air bag to the horn switch using the two screws and tighten each screw to 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.). Do not connect the negative battery terminal back until after the SRS verification test is done after any repairs to an SRS component.
