2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Ensure Proper Seat Belt Installation and Safety on 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before starting seat belt or child restraint anchor service, check all the belts, buckles, hardware, retractors, tether straps and anchors to see if they are properly installed, handle or free from wear. Always pick new replacement parts from the Chrysler Mopar(R) Parts Catalog. Before installing the retractor, make sure the shield 8 is in place and correctly attached in the B-pillar structure 9. Combine the seat and retractor 6 and fix them in the vehicle first. Then firmly screw 7 at the patch on the base of the inner B-pillar until it reaches 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). Turn the loop on front seat belt 4 around the bolt that holds the lower B-pillar cover, feed the anchor through the opening and then reapply the cover. Insert cover 5 into the top part of the B-pillar trim and the upper trim onto the inside of the B-pillar. Slide the seat belt turning loop into place on height adjuster 10 on the upper B-pillar and make sure the webbing stays straight from the retractor to the loop. Secure the turning loop to the height adjuster with screw 3 at a torque of 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). Place the upper tabs of the trim cover into the slots on the height adjuster and only then push down on the bottom to lock it into place. Guide the lower anchor of the belt so it fits into the mounting hole on the outboard edge of the front seat frame, with the webbing between the loops kept clear of twists. Lastly, tighten screw 2 to secure the lower anchor to the seat, also to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.) and put cover 1 back onto the front seat cushion outboard side shield.
