2008 Jeep Liberty Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install Battery Cables on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: To put in the battery cables, take off your metallic jewelry, since you could sustain an injury from current arcing accidentally. Unroll the battery cables and put them in the engine bay before fixing the pushpins, fasteners and routing clips, one after the other, so the cables return to their original spots. Secure the negative battery cable (8) to the engine block's mounting stud (2), then fasten it with the positive battery cable retaining nut (1). Join the positive cable (7) into the B+ connection on the starter motor (3) and screw the retaining nut (4) on it with a torque of 13 Nm (115 in. lbs.). Then, plug the positive battery cable's end (2) into the B+ terminal of the generator (5) and turn the retaining nut (1) tight using 14 Nm (125 in. lbs.) of force. Attach the TIPM positive cable onto the mounting stud and tighten the retaining nut to about 9 - 11 Nm. Once that's done, install the cover. Put the routing clips on the inner fender, place the negative battery cable over its mounting stud and add 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs. of torque) to fasten the mounting stud to the inner fender. This step includes attaching the battery's positive cable (1) and fastening the cable clamp for 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) and then attaching its negative cable (2) and tightening the cable clamp nut for 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
