2008 Jeep Liberty Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Heater Core on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: You should disable air bag control by detaching the negative battery cable from the main board, then give the air bag capacitor two minutes to empty itself. This stops the air bag from accidentally deploying which might result in serious personal injury or death. Heater core tubes are not serviced outside the assembly, so they should not be loosened, repositioned or taken out to prevent coolant leaks. Remove the HVAC housing system and set it on a workbench. After that, take off the air distribution housing from the HVAC housing. Remove the two screws holding the front passenger side floor duct against the air distribution housing and then get rid of the duct. Should the foam seal around the heater core tube flange be deformed or broken, it should be replaced. Gently take off the foam seal on the heater core tube flange; if it is broken, replace it. Unscrew the screw that is holding the back of the heater core tube flange to the inner air outlet tube cover. Take out the plastic retainer from the heater core tubes and remove the flange as well. Should the foam around the heater core become damaged or misshapen, it requires replacement. After that, undo the four plastic tabs holding the heater core to the passenger side and gently pull the core out of the housing.
