2008 Jeep Liberty Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: What Are the Steps and Precautions for Replacing a Knock Sensor on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: These sensors are bolted underneath the intake manifold in the engine block and share a single wire harness with just one electrical connector, explaining the need for a set replacement. The identification tag on the left sensor says LEFT and the bolt head is bigger. The PCM needs to identify the proper sensor positions so that it does not mix them up. You should take out the intake manifold first. After that, take off the knock sensor dual pigtail harness from the engine wiring harness which is at the rear of the engine. After that, take out both sensor bolts, because the white foam o the bolt is for assembly and should not be glued or sealed. After that, disconnect the sensors connected to the engine.
