2007 Jeep Liberty Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Knock Sensor on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before fitting the knock sensor on a 3.7L engine, look for the one marked LEFT and attached with the bigger bolt and bolt head to make certain the PCM does not mistake the positions of the sensors. Clean the holes for the sensors at the knock sensor mounts, then put the sensors into the cylinder block holes. Correctly setting the torque on the sensor mounting bolts is very important to ensure the knock sensor performs properly and spark control is not affected, so use the recommended value of 15 ± 2 ft.lbs (20 Nm) (176 in.lbs). The foam strip on the bolt helps hold the bolts in place during assembly, but it's not a sealant; no adhesives, sealants or thread locking substances should be applied to these bolts. After finishing the mounting bolt tightening, attach the knock sensor wiring harness to the section connecting the ignition coils and the engine harness from the rear of the intake manifold and install the intake manifold.
