2008 Jeep Wrangler Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Front Steering Knuckle on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To remove the front steering knuckle, raise and support the car and then remove the wheel and tire unit. Following that, unwind the nut on the outer tie rod end and then disconnect the tie rod from the knuckle with special 9360 separator. Separate the special tool from the left ball knuckle and remove the drag link nut from the right ball. Take out the bolts for the disc brake caliper adapter while supporting the caliper so it doesn't hang by its brake tube, then remove the disc brake rotor. If there is an axle nut and wheel speed sensor mounting bolt, take them out in this order: the axle nut, the bolt holding the wheel speed sensor and the wheel speed sensor through its opening in the brake shield. After that, get rid of the lower ball joint cotter pin and nut, as well as the upper ball joint cotter pin and nut. Pull the lower ball joint from the knuckle with tool C-4150A and then pull the upper ball joint away using special tool 9360. Lastly, take out the knuckle from the vehicle and attach the hub/bearing with brake shield, if that is required.
