Disconnect and separate the negative battery cable as the first step for servicing or repairing the windshield washer pump. Withdraw the washer fluid from the washer reservoir (6) that's at the front (left base) of the component tray (3) and move it to an empty container you can reuse. Unplug the connector from the washer pump/motor housing by reaching closely into the well behind the washer reservoir. At this stage, remove the front washer hose (4) from the washer pump/motor unit and, if required, also unhook the rear washer hose (7) from that same washer nipple. Remove the top of the pump/motor unit from the reservoir to take the snap post (5) out of the motor unit from the reservoir Slowly remove the washer pump/motor unit from above the washer reservoir by pulling it out straight, so the inlet nipple comes free from the rubber seal/filter screen inside. Eventually, remove and get rid of the rubber grommet seal/filter screen from the pump hole in the washer reservoir.
