2009 Jeep Wrangler Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Detach the Washer Pump from a Gasoline Engine on 2009 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Pressing the gas pedal repeatedly helps to ensure the Windshield Washer Pump is out of the gasoline engine vehicle. Pour the washer fluid from the reservoir (6) at the forward end of the component tray (3) on the left into a clean receptacle for use again. Release the engine compartment wire harness connector from the washer pump/motor unit (1) connector receptacle (2) by reaching into the component tray behind the washer reservoir. Then, pull off the front washer hose (4) from the pump/motor unit and, if your vehicle is equipped as such, pull off the rear washer hose (7) as well. Separate the top of the washer pump/motor unit from the reservoir to free the snap post (5) on the motor housing from its place in the reservoir. Working gently, remove and lift the washer pump/filter unit so that the inlet attaches to the seal in the reservoir. Try not to damage the reservoir in the process. After that, pull out and throw away the rubber grommet from the pump mounting hole in the washer reservoir.
