2009 Chrysler Aspen A/C Clutch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an A/C Clutch on 2009 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Make sure the wire lead from the compressor clutch coil is not pinched and put the coil onto the compressor so its dowel pin lines up with the hole on the compressor. The compressor clutch coil should be held in place using a new snap ring, where the bevel is on the top and the side with the eyelets faces the coil dowel pin. Slide the A/C Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or equivalent over the snap ring and install it to fully secure the compressor clutch coil. Don't harm the friction surfaces when joining the pulley and bearing assembly and always place the snap ring with the bevel side facing the welds. If you plan to use the original clutch and pulley, put the first shim onto the compressor shaft; otherwise, use three 2.54 mm shims as your trial stack. Place the clutch plate on the front of the A/C compressor and tighten the bolt holding the compressor shaft using 19 Nm of force. Check different areas for the air gap and set it to 0.35 - 0.60 mm; if the gaps are different, insert or remove shims as needed. Pass the compressor clutch coil wire lead behind the connector bracket, fit the connector onto the bracket and join the engine wire harness to the connector. Attach the accessory drive belt, radiator fan and shroud, climb the upper radiator hose with a secure clamp, put back the air intake hose, fill the engine cooling system and reconnect the negative battery cable.
