  • Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an Alternator on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A: Both the air cleaner lid, inlet air sensor and air hose should be taken off together with the battery's negative cable before you do anything else. Unscrew the generator T-bolt nut a bit, then lift the vehicle on a hoist to see the rear end. Slide off the front right wheel and accessory drive splash shield and remove the pencil strut after that. Lose the nuts from both the lower pivot bolt and the T-bolt on the accessory drive belt. Disconnect the field circuit from the generator, then take out the two terminals on the B+ terminal. After that, take out the generator belt and the axle shaft. Before removing the generator, get rid of the lower mounting bolt and nut from the upper T-bolt.
