2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and maintain a Brake Booster on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: For the power brake booster to be installed well, first check that the new dash seal is set onto the booster studs. If you have removed the pivot plate from the bracket earlier, just set the brake booster down onto it. Beneath the instrument panel, attach the four power brake booster nuts and tighten them to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Either Mopar® Lubriplate or a similar product should be applied to the point where the brake pedal pin touches the brake booster input rod. Link the power brake booster push rod to the pin located on the side of the brake pedal and hold it in place with a NEW retaining clip. If the earlier switch has been taken out or positioned incorrectly, you need to install a new stop lamp switch. Place the plunger end into the mounting bracket so the index tab fits into its proper slot and then turn the switch clockwise about 30° to secure it. After letting go of the brake pedal, move the lever on the back of the stop lamp switch to its highest point. Set up the knee blocker and add the silencer pad to it. When installing the hoses, be sure they stay away from the exhaust manifold and any other places where contact could happen. After cleaning, attach all previously disconnected vacuum hoses to the vacuum check valve. With ABS in place, lift the ICU and replace all the components you took out. Securely assemble the master cylinder and then fasten the battery negative cable to the battery's negative post. After that, attach the air cleaner cover, properly bleed both the base brakes and ABS and test drive the system to see the brakes are responding normally.
