2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Brake Booster on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: To do the service or repair on the vacuum brake booster, first unclip the air cleaner cover and then set it aside. Unplug the black cable that connects the battery from the battery's negative post. Step 2: Remove the master cylinder. Take out the integrated control unit (ICU) if the car comes with ABS. Take out the vacuum hoses from the check valve on the power brake booster without uprooting the check valve. From inside the vehicle, remove the silencer pad under the foot stop and then tip down and take out the knee blocker. Turn the stop lamp switch counterclockwise by about 30 degrees and pull it off its bracket. Pull forward on the wiring harness connector and remove the switch from the assembly. Bend the small screwdriver under the middle part of the retaining clip and rotate it, helping the tang of the clip to clear over the brake pedal pin, then remove the clip. Hold the brake pedal down and pull the booster push rod away from it. Open the area beneath the instrument panel, where the pedal bracket connects to the brake pedal and untwist the four nuts fastening the power brake booster to the instrument panel. After that, move the power brake booster forward so its mounting studs do not touch the instrument panel and then remove it through the front of the engine area.
