2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Neutral Safety Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace the Neutral Safety Switch on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Initially, you should remove the battery cables, next take off the air cleaner, battery retainers and battery, before handling the battery tray. After that, take the gearshift cable off of the manual valve lever and pull out the manual valve lever. Take the transmission range sensor connector out and lift the vehicle up. Tighten the bolts after removing the oil pan, then remove the oil filter. After that, remove the bolts that hold the valve body-to-transaxle case together and take the park rod rollers out of the guide bracket. Rotate the manual gear lever all the way clockwise to low or first gear and be careful not to damage or drop the valve body during removal to maintain the shape of the manual shaft pilot. Take out the valve body from the transaxle and then take out the manual shaft seal and the TRS retaining screw. Ultimately, move the Transmission Range Sensor upward the manual shaft and take it out.
