Before replacing the transmission range sensor, cut the battery power, take off the air cleaner assembly, the battery hold down clamp and the battery. After that, take the
Battery Tray out and pull the gearshift cable off the manual valve lever, then unhook the manual valve lever. Cut the transmission range sensor connector and raise your vehicle into the air. Release the
Oil Pan bolts and remove the oil pan, after that, unbolt and remove the
Oil Filter and the bolts that secure the valve body to the transaxle case. Turn the manual valve lever to its lower position, remove the park rod rollers from the guide bracket and then take the valve body out from the transaxle. It is important to avoid modifying the valve body manual shaft pilot. Eliminate the seal and screw that hold the transmission forward and pull out the range sensor by sliding it up during detachment from the manual shaft. When installing, fit the new transmission range sensor and tighten the retaining screw to around 5 Nm or 45 inch lbs. After that, place the manual shaft seal, then guide the park rod rollers into the guide bracket as you attach the valve body to the transaxle case. Place the valve body on the case and seal it with 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.)-tight bolts, then set the oil filter in place, checking that its O-ring is unharmed. Install the oil pan to the case by applying a small amount of RTV material and use 19 Nm (165 in lbs.) torque to each bolt. Bring the vehicle down, link the transmission range sensor connector and slide the manual valve lever and gear shift cable into place again. After finishing, reattach the battery tray, battery and hold down clamp, then add the air cleaner assembly, link up the
Battery Cables and fill the transaxle with ATF+4.
