2009 Chrysler Town & Country A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install an A/C Accumulator on 2009 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before you install the A/C accumulator, make sure the refrigerant oil is at the correct level, because failing to check it could cause the A/C system to fail and damage the compressor. When the A/C compressor fails, it is necessary to replace the A/C accumulator to protect the compressor from additional harm. Look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to find out how much oil is needed when replacing several A/C components. To replace just the A/C accumulator, insert 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the right refrigerant oil in the system. Make sure to replace the seals and gaskets of the refrigerant lines when operation is complete, to avoid leakage. Put the A/C accumulator into the engine compartment and fix it to the right front frame rail using bolt 3 and tighten it to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.) Secure the front and back sections of liquid line 1 and 2 on the A/C accumulator unit with robust new O-rings and tighten the bolts to 13.5 Nm or 120 in. lbs. After finishing the work in the air cleaner housing box, position it again and lastly connect the negative cable to the battery. Take out the refrigerant from the system, add required refrigerant oil when replacing many system parts or the A/C accumulator and charge the refrigerant properly.
