2009 Dodge Dakota Battery Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix Battery Cables on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should turn off the ignition and unplug all electrical accessories before handling battery cables. Take out the negative cable from the battery, disconnect it and then unbolt and separate the left front fender and the negative cable eyelet (3). Take out the battery cable pushpins (5), fasteners and routing clips until the cable is free of the vehicle. Take the vehicle up on a hoist, unbolt cable (1) from engine (2), then separate it from the engine harness and remove the battery negative cable from the vehicle. Once more, switch the ignition to Off and detach the negative battery cable if the positive cable is the one you are working on. Remove the band clamp (2) to let the air inlet tube (1) open and then take out the bolts (3) that secure the air intake resonator (4). Take apart the positive battery cable connector and remove the nut (5) holding the cable to the IPM (7) stud (6). To remove the nut (3) joining the cable (4) to the alternator, open the cap on the terminal and pull it out. Put the vehicle up on a hoist, take out the nut that holds the cable to the starter solenoid and unplug the battery cable by pushing the retaining pin. Lower the vehicle and take out the red battery cable from the car.
