2009 Dodge Dakota Battery Tray Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Battery Tray on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step in installing a battery tray is to examine and clean it. Place the battery tray in the vehicle and add the six upper battery tray bolts by hand, then tighten the two front battery tray bolts with your hands. Put the vehicle on a hoist, so that the middle bolt hole in the bumper stays open for attaching a front fender liner. After that, set in the lower battery tray bolts and tighten them so the torque is 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). First, fasten the left front fender liner and then let the vehicle sit on the ground. Secure the belt hooks just behind the center brace with the bolts that hold the upper battery rack, using a torque setting of 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). Following that, install the retaining pushpins for the engine wiring harness onto the battery tray, then on the negative cable. Put the Antilock Brake System (ABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) bolts into the battery tray and tighten them with 18 Nm (160 in. lbs.) of torque. After that, position and mount the Integrated Power Module (IPM) and slide in the battery. Make sure all vehicles operate normally.
