2009 Dodge Dakota Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Oil Pan from an Engine on 2009 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step in removing the engine oil pan is to cut the negative battery cable. Use special tool 8534B to install the engine support fixture without lifting the engine. Pull both bolted engine mounts off and remove the structural dust cover, then release the oil from the engine. Using special tool 8534B, raise the engine just enough so there is room to remove the oil pan and proper clearance at the fan shroud to fan and cowl to intake manifold. People with 4WD cars should lower the front axle to have space to remove the oil pan without touching or removing its shafts. Get rid of the pinion bracket, take off the front driveshaft at the front axle and remove the front axle bolts. Lift the axle far enough using a suitable jack to let you remove the oil pan. You should not change or inspect the oil pan gasket by itself, as it is fused to the engine windage tray and can't be disconnected without removing the whole oil pan. Are movement bolts and the oil pan underway, along with the oil pump output tape and look closely at the significant windage plate and gasket to determine if you need to replace them.
