2009 Dodge Grand Caravan A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How Can Proper Installation of an A/C Hose Prevent System Malfunction and Compressor Damage on 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: During installation of the suction line, always set the refrigerant oil to keep the A/C system running and prevent damage to the compressor. Whenever refrigerant lines are opened, you should always replace their seals and gaskets to keep leaks from occurring. Take out any tape or plugs connecting to the refrigerant line fittings, expansion valve and compressor before you start anything else. Clean refrigerant oil should be used to grease new washer seals which should then be fitted on the fitting ends of the refrigerant lines for the A/C compressor using R-134a-specified parts and oil. Put the A/C suction line into the engine compartment and attach its ends to the centers of each dash retaining bracket. Attach the A/C liquid line into the tapping block on the suction line and link both to the expansion valve, fastening them with a nut torqued to 17 ft. lbs. Attach the A/C suction line to the right front frame rail using a bolt secured to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). Lubricate an O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and then fit it with a new gasket onto the suction line fitting. Connect the suction line to the A/C compressor and tighten the nut so it reads 20 Nm or 15 ft. lbs. Fit the housing of the air cleaner back in and join the inlet duct to it, hook up the A/C suction line to the underbody tube if you have to and restore the connection to the negative battery cable. Remove the refrigerant from the refrigeration system, correct the oil level and add the refrigerant when necessary.
