How to Effectively Service and Repair a Dimmer Switch on 2009 Dodge Nitro?

Before working on the dimmer switch, unhook and secure the battery cable's negative end to shut off the SRS. You should wait two minutes afterward to allow the air bag system capacitor to discharge. First, get rid of the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column. After that, disconnect the multi-function switch harness wire from the left most position on the panel. Take out the single screw that holds the left multi-function switch to the mounting bracket nearest the left side of the Clock Spring. Separate the slide tabs from the mounting bracket's formations by pulling the switch away from the Clock Spring. Remove the jumper wire harness connector from the inner end of the left multi-function switch and then remove the switch from where it's held by the Clock Spring.
