- Q: How to Install a Dimmer Switch for Multi-Function Use on Dodge Nitro?A:Before you start, turn off the supplemental restraint system, remove the negative Battery Cable, wait for two minutes and then connect it back to make sure the air bag doesn't activate by accident. Place the left multi-function switch next to the bracket on the left part of the Clock Spring and hook the jumper wire harness to the connector on the inside of the switch housing. Slide the slide tabs on the switch housing into the corresponding channel shapes on the Clock Spring mounting bracket and slide the switch into the bracket until it fits exactly inside the opening. Attach the tab from the left multi-function switch front to the mounting bracket on the Clock Spring using a 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) screw. Secure the instrument panel wire harness connector to the switch housing receptacle, put the upper and lower shrouds in place again and connect the battery negative cable one last time.
- Q: How to Remove the Left Dimmer Switch on Dodge Nitro?A:To take out the left multifunction switch, disconnect the black negative Battery Cable, disconnect the SRS wiring and give the system two minutes to discharge. Start by taking out the negative terminal from the battery. After that, take off both the upper and lower covers from the Steering Column. Detach the connector for the instrument panel wire harness from the receptacle at the back of the left multi-function switch. Unscrew the left multi-function switch from its mounting bracket on the left of the Clock Spring. Push the small switch toward the flat side to release the slide tabs from the channels in the mounting bracket. Unplug the jumper wire harness connector from the left multi-function switch at the inboard side and then take the switch out of the Clock Spring.
