2009 Dodge Nitro Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Parking Brake Cable on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: Before servicing or repairing the parking brake cable, you should first lock out the parking brake cables. Then, remove the rear seat and slide the carpet forwards so you can see the two parking brake cables under the floor. Loosen the two cables from the equalizer, then work a box end wrench over the tangs to open the clamps and remove the cables from the mount. Push the cables through the floor, making sure the grommets stay with them. Disconnect the retainer fastener of the stabilizer bar bracket, then take off the parking brake cable from the bar retainer and bracket mount. Then, with a suitable box end wrench on the tangs, release the brake cable from the back of the axle and remove it from the brake lever.
