2009 Dodge Nitro Steering Column Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Steering Column on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: Secure the front wheels straight ahead in alignment and next remove the negative ground cable from the battery. Following that, take out the air bag, but be careful to disconnect the clock spring harness from the cruise switch harness if the steering wheel has cruise control. Either use puller C-3894-A or substitute it with an appropriate puller for this task. Once you've done that, remove the cover from the steering column and unscrew the fasteners on the lower column shroud to pull off both shrouds. Turn the key to on and if your car has an automatic, disconnect the shifter interlock cable from where it's attached to the column. Take out the bolt above the steering wheel and remove the nuts connecting the column to the mounts, before lowering the column as a whole off the studs. Remove and disconnect the wiring harness from the column, take out the shifter interlock cable from its split straps and end with removing the column. Move the needed parts as needed and take out the clock spring, switches and Skreem if you have them.
