2009 Dodge Nitro Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 3.7L Engine on 2009 Dodge Nitro?
A: Before working on the engine coolant thermostat, remove the negative battery cable at the battery first. Pour out the cooling solution into a receptacle if clean and let the system cool, always unscrewing the drain valve once it has cooled, so you don't get burnt. Lift the vehicle with a hoist and afterward, take out the splash shield. Then, unscrew the clamp on the lower radiator hose and pull away the hose from the thermostat housing. Afterward, detach the thermostat housing from the car by removing the bolts and then the main housing and thermostat itself. Whenever you replace the thermostat, get one that matches the type for your vehicle and engine.
