2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove the Timing Cover from an Engine on 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: First, you should disconnect the battery negative cable and empty the cooling system to remove the engine timing cover. After that, eliminate the electric cooling fan and fan shroud, together with the fan and fan drive assembly. Unplug both the heater hoses from the timing cover and the lower radiator hose at the engine. Take the accessory pulley tensioner assembly (1) off and then remove the crankshaft damper. After that, take out the generator and the A/C compressor. Anerobic sealing is done in place of gaskets on 3.7L engines, so Mopar® Grey Engine RTV Sealant should be used for service at the front cover. You do not have to take out the water pump to remove the timing cover. Next, loosen and take out the bolts that hold the timing cover to the engine and take the cover away.
