2009 Jeep Commander Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Wheel Bearing on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: You should tighten any loose stud on the bearing flange to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) before fitting the axle bearing. First, put the axle bolts into the axle flange and after that, insert the axle shaft into the, wheel. After that, install the axle shaft into both the axle tube and the backing plate, putting a new O-ring on the axle. Push the O-ring through the backing plate and slide the axle through until the bearing is visible, then put the O-ring onto the bearing on the axle. Slide the axle into the axle tube and put the nuts onto the flange, to set them firmly. Screw the speed sensors into the axle tube flange and then use Mopar(R) Stud N' Bearing Mount Adhesive or a similar product to coat and install the new axle flange plug in the freeze plug. After that, put the calipers and rotors in place.
