2009 Jeep Commander Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Left Front Shock Absorber on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Begin by mounting the clevis bracket (4) to the shock (3) and tightening it with 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.) of force. Mount the shock assembly (3) to the vehicle and hold it by tightening the top four shock nuts (2) to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). Then, fit all three PDC (1) bracket nuts and raise the vehicle. Place the lower stabilizer bolt (3) in the lower control arm and tighten it to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). After that, position and tighten the lower clevis bolt (2) in the lower control arm to 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). After that, fit the upper ball joint into the knuckle (1) and turn the nut until you reach 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) of torque. Once done, put in the disc brake rotor and tighten the caliper adaptor mounting bolts with a torque of 176 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Once you have the spacer, install the tire and wheel assembly before letting the vehicle down.
