  A: Always disconnect the negative battery cable at the start of the service or repair, to protect yourself and the electrical components from accidental damage or shock. When the negative battery cable is removed, carefully take the generator drive belt off and watch that it doesn't wrap over the pulley rim and damage the synthetic fiber. Guidance on how to mount the belt can be found in the engine compartment on the belt routing label; this helps avoid the water pump being mounted in the wrong direction and potentially your engine heating. After that, separate the plastic cover covering the B+ mounting stud and removed the B+ terminal nut on top of the generator. Releasing the electrical field wire from the generator takes pressing the tab connected to the rear electrical connector. Once done, unattach the generator by removing the bottom two bolts next to each mounting point and the lid's top mounting bolt.
