2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Camshaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Camshaft on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before you remove the camshaft, unscrew the cylinder head cover, then remove both the camshaft position sensor and the camshaft target magnet on the block. Then, detach the timing belt, then the camshaft sprockets and finally remove the timing belt rear cover. The outer caps on bearing caps should be removed first, following the directions. Undo each bolt or screw from the camshaft cap a little at a time, dealing with just one camshaft assembly; remember that number 6 intake cam thrust bearing is wider than the rest. Take care to note the camshafts on each cylinder before removing and, if rocker arms are being taken out, ensure they are labeled for correct replacement in their original places.
