2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace the Front Lower Control Arm on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: To start, raise and prop up the car, take out the wheel's nuts and remove the wheel and tire. Turn the bolt holding each stabilizer bar link assembly with a wrench after unscrewing the firm retaining nut on top. Angle the forward end of the stabilizer bar downward and, if the bolts are tight, loosen the retainer bolts beneath the bar cushion. Separate the nut and pinch bolt on the ball joint stud, but do not jerk on the knuckle toward the inside to prevent breaking the C/V joint. Place the right tool in between the stud and the knuckle and raise the stud as you lower the underside of the control arm. If using the proper lower control arm, unfasten the wheel house splash shield connection to the drive belt splash shield and disconnect some fasteners on the engine's front fascia to gain access to the drive belt splash shield forward fastener. Then, free the fastener connecting the front suspension crossmember to the drive belt splash shield, free the fasteners attaching the drive belt splash shield to the body and take out the splash shield itself. After that, take off the mounting nuts, remove the pencil strut from the right front corner of the crossmember and body and take out the washer behind the strut bolt connected to the torque strut. Next, take out the engine torque strut mounting bolt on the engine, the one to the crossmember and then pull out the strut. Disconnect the front suspension crossmember bolt holding the lower control arm in place, next do the same with the crossmember and frame rail bolt and then disconnect the lower control arm from the crossmember.
