2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Power Steering Cooler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install a power steering cooler on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Slide a hose clamp on the end of the power steering cooler inlet hose so far that it goes over the steel fitting on the power steering gear, when the vehicle lacks a turbocharged engine and has an exterior cooler. Place the cooler outlet tube inside the open routing clamp for left-hand drive (4) on the right front of the power steering housing and push it onto the clamp until you hear it click shut before securing the clamp. After that, slide the end of the cooler inlet hose (with cooler (2) attached) onto the steering gear fitting (1) and clamp the hose with a hose clamp just past the bead on the fitting to secure the connection. Align the two screws to hold the cooler in place on the crossmember in front and rotate each to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). Slide the hose (with cooler (2)) onto the steering gear outlet fitting (1), secure it and then put in the two screws attaching the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3) and tighten to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). After pulling the hoses out, attach the hose (3) for fluid return to the tube of the power steering fluid cooler (2) with a hose clamp. Lower the car, put power steering fluid in and hold the bleed valve until no more air comes out.
