2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Steering Wheel and Ensure All Components Function Properly on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The rear cover (2) goes on the back of the steering wheel and it's fastened with screws (3) before proceeding to install the front. Should your vehicle come with a speed control switch, connect it in the rear from the mounting bracket, secure it using two rear screws, then insert the front screw to join the switch to the steering wheel. Now, put the horn contacts (pads) (2) on the connector side (1) so the wire is closest to the side of the wheel (12 o'clock) and wrap the contact wires around counterclockwise as you go. Place the white wires on your left and the black wires on your right, making sure they won't touch any parts attached to the wheels. If the lights have speed control, join the speed control wiring connector (3). Double-check that your front wheels are aimed right ahead and the turn signal stalk is in the center position. When you insert the Clock Spring in your runway, make sure it is centered so there is no danger of overextension and if you are unsure, carry out the Clock Spring centering procedure. Insert your wiring for the air bag through the hole at the top of the steering wheel close to the air bag. Slide the wheel so the wide spline on the wheel fits the missing spline on the column shaft and push it on, checking the Clock Spring matches with the rear of the steering wheel without binding. Fasten the steering wheel retaining bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) to confirm the steering wheel is placed correctly on the steering shaft. Attach the wire connector of the horn to the Clock Spring (1) and set the driver air bag in place. Make sure to reattach the battery ground cable in the correct order after the air bag System Test, to prevent personal injury or death. Lastly, operate all the devices on the wheel column and reset the radio and clock if you're able to.
