2010 Dodge Grand Caravan Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service an Evaporator to Maintain Optimal Refrigerant Oil Levels on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: It is very important to check and adjust the refrigerant oil level during A/C refrigerant service to prevent problems in the system and possible damage to the compressor. If your mechanic is replacing the A/C evaporator, ask them to add 2 fluid ounces of the proper refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Whenever you disconnect a refrigerant line or expansion valve, you must replace the seals to prevent gas escapes. Installing the evaporator in the bottom part of the HVAC housing should be done first; verify that the drain is not clogged and that the evaporator insulation is set properly. Once done, put the HVAC housing together and connect it in the right way. If you're replacing more than one major A/C system part, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart and add the correct amount of the proper oil which should be for the factory-installed A/C compressor.
