2010 Jeep Liberty Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a New Clock Spring on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before putting in a new Clock Spring, remove the SRS control module by separating the negative cable of your battery and allowing the air bag capacitor to drain for two minutes. A service replacement Clock Spring is molded with a key pin that's meant to keep its positions until the steering wheel has been fitted. Adapt the steering wheel for a straight position and use the lock to engage the steering before starting. When installing a new Clock Spring, take the cables from the multifunction switch harness either from the old unit or from a new multifunction switch jumper. Place the Clock Spring onto the upper section of the steering column and attach the three instrument panel wire harness connectors to the backside of the case. Attach the Clock Spring to the steering column lock housing and then use three screws to hold these parts, going in order from bottom on the right, top on the left and top on the right. Attach both the left and right multifunction switches back to the Clock Spring and then put the upper and lower shrouds onto the steering column. Pull the steering wheel to the top and securely lock it. Now, fix the steering wheel in place, take out the plastic locking pin from the Clock Spring rotor and link the negative battery cable.
