2010 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Install and Connect an Air Bag Control Module on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
A: The first step of installing an Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is to turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable for two minutes, so the air bag won't mistakenly trigger. Place the ORC onto the floor panel transmission tunnel so the arrow faces forward and the pin in the right mounting flange clicks into the bracket. Attach the ORC to the bracket using three screws and turn each to 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs. Free the lever arms on the connectors before putting them in the ORC receptacles and then secure the latches on both parts. After covering the ORC, make sure both latches are locked and install the center console over the floor panel transmission tunnel. Remain sure not to connect the negative battery cable until the SRS verification test has been done after any SRS part has been serviced.
