2010 Jeep Wrangler A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How Can Proper Maintenance of the A/C Condenser Prevent System Malfunction and Compressor Damage on 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Adequate refrigerant oil helps prevent problems with the A/C system and ensures the compressor does not get damaged, so keep the oil at the right level when servicing it. When the A/C compressor fails internally, the A/C receiver/drier needs to be changed to keep the new compressor safe. Whenever you are replacing several A/C components, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to find the correct amount of oil to use. Always add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of oil that matches the car's refrigerant. Replacement of rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets on welded refrigerant lines is necessary when disconnecting to prevent leaks. Make sure the air seals around the radiator and condenser are in the proper place for best cooling performance. Connect the A/C receiver/drier (7) to the right end of the A/C condenser (1) as the first step in installation. If your car has a manual transmission, move the radiator rearward, place the A/C condenser in front of it, attach the five retaining bolts (3) to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.) and secure the radiator with two bolts. On automatic transmission vehicles, fit the automatic transmission cooler line adapter (5) with new O-rings to the left side of the automatic transmission fluid cooler (6), secure the retaining bolt (4), place the A/C condenser, install the five retaining bolts (3) and mount the radiator and A/C condenser as an assembly. The Charge Air Cooler (CAC) on 2.8L Diesel engines should be installed with help of four bolts. After the cooling fan and fan shroud, the next step is to put in the grille. Eliminate any tape or fillings from the refrigerant line fittings and the condenser, oil any new rubber seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them as well as new gaskets. Attach the A/C discharge line (2) and A/C liquid line (4) to the A/C condenser (1) using retaining nuts (3 and 5) of 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.) torque. 2.8L Diesel engines need their air outlet hose connected to the CAC. Set up the coolant recovery container and connect the negative battery cable once more. Remove all refrigerant from the system, add 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of oil to the refrigerant if you replace the A/C condenser, add the proper refrigerant and make sure the automatic transmission fluid level is sufficient.
