2010 Jeep Wrangler TPMS Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a TPMS Sensor on 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To do the installation, change seal 2 and metal washer 1 on the base of sensor valve stem 6 in order to seal properly. Check that the surface of wheel 5 is undamaged after you wipe the area around the sensor/valve stem hole. While inserting the sensor, put pressure at the rear of the metal valve stem 2 so the strap of the sensor does not break. Place your fingers on the sensor housing 2's outer rim and press it down until it matches the interior shape of wheel 1, then hand-tighten sensor nut 3 by 2 to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.). Ensure you do not over-tighten the sensor nut, as just a bit too much pressure can cause the sensor to come loose from the valve stem. During tire mounting, ensure that the sensor valve stem is approximately 280° from the changer's head on rotating wheel machines or 210° units clockwise from the installation place on rotating tool models and that the sensor is not close to the lower bead breaker. Ensure air pressure is set to the figure found on the side of the tire using the specific valve stem cap. Place the tire and wheel on the vehicle, lift away the support and carefully lower the vehicle. Program the tire pressure sensor ID into the vehicle's computer by scanning it with the TPM-RKE Analyzer, 9936, connected to the Scan Tool or by driving the vehicle for a minimum of 10 minutes at a consistent speed above 15 mph (24 km/h) after it has been standing for at least 20 minutes. Should a sensor not differentiate, review the needed diagnostic information.
