At the outset, detach the battery ground cable from its mount on the shock tower and section it off with a cable isolator. Place the front tires evenly on the ground and lift up the vehicle until the front tires are just elevated from the floor on a frame contact hoist. Lift the hood, open the locking cap on each
Wiper Arm and unscrew the nuts holding them. Start by taking out the wiper module cover and cowl cover, remove the 8 bolts holding the reinforcement to the strut towers and the 1 bolt fixing the wiper assembly to the reinforcement and detach the reinforcement. Take out the resonator and the inlet hose from the
Throttle Body and the air let hose from the air cleaner housing lid. Stop the
Steering Wheel from turning by clamping it which will keep it straight ahead and protect the
Clock Spring. Take out the retaining pin and coupler bolt from the steering column coupler and then unlink the intermediate steering shaft from the coupler. Bend the retaining tabs back on the tie rod to steering gear mounting plate, take out all four bolts and the plate with washers and keep them all on top of the transaxle bell housing. To stop power steering fluid from spilling, use a siphon pump to remove all the fluid you need from the reservoir. Take the nuts from the master cylinder bolts that secure it to the vacuum booster and carefully pry the master cylinder from the top, keeping the brake tubes attached and placing it upright next to the left valve cover. Take the vacuum supply hose out of the vacuum booster where it's attached to the check valve and place it nearby. Remove the hose between the steering gear and reservoir and then unclip the 4 mounting bolts holding the steering gear in place and the mounting bracket on the driver's side. Clear the pressure and return lines by shifting the steering gear and then take out the bolts that anchor the power steering lines to the frame on the left. To change out a 300M's
Power Steering Cooler, you should remove the front fascia. Release the power steering fluid return hose from the cooler, letting whatever is left inside drain out and then both lower the car and extract its fluid hoses from behind the front engine compartment.
