How to Maintain the Third Row Outboard Seat Belt on Chrysler Aspen?

To service the third row outboard seat belt, examine the seat belt, buckle, all its mounting hardware, retractor, tether strap and anchors, changing any worn belts, correcting twists in the belts, tightening any lose fasteners and changing any broken buckles, retractors, latch plates or anchor plates with parts ordered from the DaimlerChrysler Mopar(R) Parts Catalog. Lower the seat cushion on the third row and hold the seat back upright so you can easily reach the lower seat belt anchor on the quarter inner panel. Unscrew the bolt holding the lower anchor to the inner dent-protection panel on the quarter side, then take away the D-pillar panel covering the upper back inner panel. Go through the hole in the panel on the upper D-pillar and secure the seat belt and lower anchor. Unscrew the fixing screw in the upper D-pillar to separate the turning loop. After that, get the quarter trim panel away from the lower D-pillar and unscrew the retractor bracket from it. Thereafter, remove the entire third row seat belt and retractor by grabbing them at the D-pillar.

How to Service and Repair a Front Seat Belt Safely on Chrysler Aspen?

To work on the front seat belt and retractor unit, first disconnect the battery negative cable, let it sit for two minutes so the system capacitor empties, then disactivate the supplemental restraint system. Move the front seat all the way forward to reach the front seat belt lower anchor and the trim surrounding the B-pillar. Take a wide flat-bladed tool or trim stick and pry the seat belt anchor cover gently off the back of the outboard seat's side panel. Detach the screw on the lower anchor on the outboard side of the seat cushion frame. Open the upper edge of the trim cover from the top of the front seat belt loop and free the tab on the lower edge to get to the screw in the turning loop. Unscrew the screw that holds the seat belt turning loop to the height adjuster, then pull the loop out of the height adjuster from the top B-pillar. Remove the upper and lower trim from the inside of the B-pillar and then come out the screw holding the belt web guide to the B-pillar. Take out the body wire harness connector from the seat belt tensioner initiator and also remove the second body wire connector from the seat belt switch connector on the retractor. Undo all the screws between the upper and lower retractor brackets at the B-pillar, unhook the engagement tab on the upper retractor from the slot in the B-pillar and lift out the seat belt and retractor as a unit.
