The camshaft position sensor is placed in the area of the cylinder head closest to the back. Cut off the filtered air tube between the throttle body and air cleaner housing and afterward, disconnect the cable linking the ECM with the camshaft position sensor. Following that, unscrew the sensor's mounting screws and remove the sensor. Unscrew the screw that holds the target magnet to the inside end of the camshaft before doing any work. Align the target magnet with the locating dowels before tightening the screw to 3 Nm (30 in. lbs.) of torque, as over-tightening can produce cracks in the magnet; if it cracks, you must put in a replacement. Once you have done this, put the camshaft position sensor into place and tighten its output screws to a torque of 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). Join the electrical connector to the sensor so that it sits straight, to prevent damaging the pins. After that, set the filtered air tube back in place and close the clamps to 3 Nm ± (25 in. lbs. ± 5) torque.
