The Clutch Release Bearing should be serviced by first removing the transaxle from the vehicle. Hold the lever and bearing assembly where they are aligned, grab the release lever where the stud and pivot stud meet and pull evenly to pop off the pivot/stud without a screwdriver or pry bar. Remove the entire assembly of the fork and bearing thrust plate, without harming the retention tabs on the bearing. Check that the sealed and lubricated bearing is not in contact with any oil or solvent. If you have a smooth effort, light pull and easy operation, your bearing will turn with no problems; if the bearing feels sticky or dry or is noisy, replace it with a brand new bearing. If the two pivot stud spring clips on the clutch fork's back are damaged or warped, remove the clutch fork by unscrewing the four screws and replace it with a new one. Do not use lubricant on the Teflon coated pivot ball pocket in the fork when installing it; then clean any dirt or contamination from the inside of the fork and the ball stud to avoid problems. Slide the small pegs on the bearing onto the fork arms and then put the whole assembly on the input shaft retainer. Push the clutch fork onto the pivot ball and fix the transaxle assembly into place.
