It is necessary to disconnect the negative battery cable before you begin any work on the Engine Control Module. Slide the small clips at the top of the box cover to remove it from the module. Pull the metal clip back and then use it to draw the powertrain control module out of the control module box. Remove the powertrain control module after taking the electrical connectors off. For installation, join the connectors on the powertrain control module to the harness and then place the module into the control module box. Set the module into the metal retaining clip and secure the plastic control module box by pushing the end clips outward to lock it. Next, attach the cable for the negative battery back on.
